College Preparatory

Herron Classical High Schools offer small classroom environments that allow for more teacher-student, one-on-one, individualized attention. Our schools have a culture that, above all, supports rigorous academics and preparation for college.

The culture does this through small classes, continual dialogue between teacher and students, regular and planned remediation, teacher advisors, and tutoring. Through consistency, self-discipline, and intellectual curiosity, Herron Classical Schools students become informed citizens capable of transforming our world.

NEW Exciting Testing Data is In!

Together, HCS scholars performed at the top of Marion County public schools on the SAT. Herron and Herron-Riverside High Schools nearly DOUBLED the percentage of students who met SAT proficiency benchmarks from 2022 to 2023!

Education in the Time of Coronavirus

Times are changing rapidly. By the time we refresh our browsers, there will no doubt be updates and new mandates regarding COVID-19. At Herron and Riverside High Schools, we understand that these rapid changes, and the sudden school closures, have brought on some fear and anxiety. This is one reason we acted quickly and organized e-learning for our students. We know that our students will benefit from structure and continued learning throughout this uncertain time.

Why Latin?

The four-year Latin sequence at Herron High School serves as an intensive course in logic and logical processes, thereby creating a graduate who is much stronger in critical thinking and the ability for tackling more complex questions posed in a college classroom.
